@andrestaltz nice !

I prefer public / private / notifications / channels. I think meta is mainly useful for diagnostics, and for getting set up.

I guess initially users will be people who already have SSB identites on network. They can friend their phone identity and that will side-step need for onboarding (pub invite) functionality in this app. I know it's needed in the long run, but I'm a fervent believer in "just build enough to get people using the thing" and there's an active group of people who we can test with before going wider.

OOOOHHH boy, I'm pretty darn excited for this. If I even have read-only I'll be ready to pretty much drop FB

GREAT FEEDBACK about the README needing a mention of the tech used. So obvious now you mention it!

Yeah coming up with a simple minimal example that is useful is hard. We're still learning how to use depject well. I think we've probably over-used it in places. Sometimes you should just be using require ... you only want to depject when you want to make something available across the eco-system, or you want to make it possible to over-ride something you've done by other things. Will have a look at your PR sometime today, have a couple of meetings and some admin to get to as well D:

@happy0 feel free to shoulder-tap me if you want me to spin up a copy of what you get running.

I've been meaning / wanting to build a patch-bonfig module which would let you toggle the functionality of different patch-plugins. Hopefully this will stimulate it. The intention is that if it's done right, the patch-plugins shouldn't add anything other than a couple of lines to patchbay.

I'm particularly interested in how the learning / comprehension curve with depject is. @Matt thinks it's hard to learn / understand / see. I suspect it's not that hard if you've got the basic concepts... but could be quite wrong. Anyway, look forward to discussing that in the future

Re: %ZRlKVP4uS

@happy0 can look later. In short patchcore is intended to be the piece which provides core primitives. Depending on how you've built, you will need to include that.

If you're just opening a PR to patchbay that would be most welcome.

@mixxx in #ssb-show-and-tell
Re: %ZRlKVP4uS

hey @happy0, sorry I've been awol - have been teaching for a couple of days.

useful to know that patchcore exposes sbot directly in if you depject need api.sbot.obs.connection ... actually it's an observeable which is a connection to sbot (when that is active)

e.g. here's it used in patchwork :

  onceTrue(api.sbot.obs.connection, (sbot) => {
    sbot.latestSequence(sbot.id, (_, key) => {
      if (key == null) {
        api.profile.sheet.edit()
      }
    })
  })

onceTrue is from mutant, it when the observeable changes (for the first time only) it runs the callback.

Looks like you've got the idea of depject. If you publish a module it will make it really easy for me to help with testing it and giving feedback. The router is patchbay is going to change, but it'll only be a small change (we're going to use objects for routing instead of strings!).

Re: %ZdkD1w8sh

I've got several voices on this.

I reckon with some common protocol, we could save a lot of effort.

But more I'm attracted to endeavours that build stronger connections and communities - those who build the house are built by the house.

It's my strong opinion that the best way to figure out protocols is to talk, and to do the work together, and to reflect and iterate.

Examples of ways #protozoa has been building connections:

WHAT IS ALL THIS TALK ?

uhh, if you know theory U, it's the sensing needed to fuel the synthesis. In short, I think doing some listening (often to the point of discomfort) is the best way to get enough of your own things out of the way that you can hear and see new things together, and with enough alignment to be effective.

BUT THIS IS ABOUT SOMETHING CONCRETE - SHARED RATES AND CONTRACTS !

I reckon that's a thing for sure, and I think it will probably be a thing we talk about if we talk more often. So I'm proposing we get together and share some experience. If we can talk with each other and do some things and maybe even eventually agree some things to dig into, then I reckon we're on a good road towards tackling harder stuff like taxing ourselves to pay for protocols + infrastructure :heart:

anyone interested ?

Re: %4potc+cy+

If you know the person, have a conversation in with them face to face, write a couple of things down, then wire them money or give them cash.

If you're doing anything else, I would recommend written agreements + invoicing. It's really really really easy to miscommunicate and set up a bad dynamic.

If you don't want to pay tax, then you should find an accountant who knows whether there are ways to reimburse someone without setting yourself up for.

Heads up that $10 for anything other than superficial changes will not get you anything at all. If you're doing something socially good and it's open source, that will help people want to work for that sort of rate.
